Reunited in Rome!

Thursday 22 June – and we’re back in Rome. Rental car dropped off – and not easy either - trying to locate the hidden-in-a-car-park drop off at Rome Termini Station, finally getting rid of the car and then standing for about 40 minutes in 30 degrees in a taxi queue that was the wrong way around for the taxis, culminating in what was a very comical scene (if you weren’t part of it!).  We finally stuffed ourselves and luggage in a taxi which wasn’t part of the queue but stopped in the middle of traffic for us.  To say we worked up a sweat would have been putting it mildly.

Anyway, we’re here and staying in a delightful little apartment belonging to Clarissa’s Mum, Patty’s, friend which is in a great location, near to their apartment in the centre of Rome.   A lovely reunion with Stella and Chloe from the school bus and a wonderful family dinner to signal the start of the last leg of our Italian holiday before we depart for New Zealand.

Friday 23 June – the girls have their last day at school for the end of their school year today, so Geoff and I took the opportunity to walk around take in some of the incredible Roman sights – Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo, the Colosseum, Piazza Navona, Monument of Vittorio Emanuelle II and a spot of shopping in Via del Corso thrown in too!  We had a lovely casual day which was perfect as it’s all on tomorrow.

Train to Naples, hydrofoil to Procida and then we’re picking up our charter yacht for our sailing holiday around the islands!
